About Bismarck Landscape
Bismarck Landscape is a landscaping company serving Bismarck, Mandan and Lincoln, North Dakota. We do lawn care, tree work, snow removal, sprinklers, yard cleanups and full yard installs, and we do all of it around one simple idea: a yard in Bismarck has to be built for Bismarck.
That means heavy, alkaline clay. A growing season of about 129 days between frosts. Around 50 inches of snow a year, January nights near 2°F, and summer storms that can drop hail in minutes. Advice written for a yard in Ohio or Texas doesn’t hold up here, and neither does work done that way.
WHY LOCAL KNOWLEDGE MATTERS
Why We Do Landscaping the Bismarck Way
A lot of landscaping problems in Bismarck come from doing the right thing for the wrong place:
Lime added to soil that’s already alkaline
Sand mixed into clay, which NDSU warns can set up like cement
Maples planted where the City of Bismarck lists them among its top tree removals
Patios built on a thin base that heaves after a few winters
Fertilizer put down in late fall, feeding snow mold instead of grass
Sprinklers blown out a week too late
None of those are bad ideas everywhere. They’re just bad ideas here. So everything we do starts with Bismarck’s soil, weather, calendar and city rules, and works back from there.
YEAR-ROUND YARD SERVICES
What We Do
We keep our services focused on what Bismarck homes and businesses actually need:
| Service | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Lawn care | Mowing, fertilizing, weed control, aeration, overseeding and spring repair |
| Tree services and ash tree removal | Removal, trimming, storm cleanup, planting and emerald ash borer decisions |
| Snow removal | Driveways, sidewalks and small business lots, cleared to the 24-hour rule |
| Irrigation and sprinklers | Installs, repairs, spring startups, fall blowouts and smart controllers |
| Fall and spring yard cleanup | Leaves, beds, final mow, snow mold and vole damage repair |
| Landscape design and installation | Yard plans, sod, planting beds, windbreaks, patios and retaining walls |
Year-round, the work follows the seasons: planting and sod after mid-May, mowing and watering through summer, cleanups and blowouts in fall, and snow removal and tree work in winter.

A STRAIGHTFORWARD PROCESS
How We Work
You call and tell us what’s going on, whether it’s a yellow lawn, a leaning tree or a bare-dirt yard.
We look at the site and talk through what you want, what’s causing any problems and what fits your budget.
You get a written estimate with the work, materials and timing spelled out.
We schedule around Bismarck’s weather, like frost dates, soil moisture and snow.
We do the job and clean up, and we tell you anything you need to do afterward, like watering new sod.
OUR WORK STANDARDS
What You Can Count On
These are the standards we hold ourselves to on every job:
Straight answers. If your brown lawn is just dormant, we’ll tell you, even if it means less work for us.
Written, itemized estimates, so you can compare us line by line with anyone else.
Plants that belong here, rated for zone 3 or 4 and able to handle alkaline soil.
Bases built for frost under every patio, walkway and wall.
Following the city’s rules for you, like keeping snow out of the street, getting boulevard tree permits and keeping ash wood inside Burleigh County under the emerald ash borer quarantine.
Clean job sites. Clippings off the sidewalk, debris hauled away, and your yard left better than we found it.
Honest prices. Our landscaping cost guide for Bismarck shows real local price ranges, with sources, before you ever call.
LOCAL, CHECKABLE SOURCES
Where Our Advice Comes From
Every guide on this site is built on local, checkable sources, not guesswork:
NDSU Extension for lawn, tree and soil advice written for North Dakota
The City of Bismarck for snow, mowing, boulevard tree and yard waste rules
The North Dakota Department of Agriculture for emerald ash borer updates and the Burleigh County quarantine
NOAA climate data for frost dates and snowfall
We date our pages and update them when rules or conditions change. When emerald ash borer was found in Bismarck in August 2026, for example, the quarantine rules went straight into our emerald ash borer guide for Bismarck and our tree pages.
